Travel from Merida with a bilingual guide such as Alejandra, Blanca, or Ivan, then take a private boat through Celestun’s mangroves and flamingo waters. Afterward, enjoy up to 2 hours 45 minutes at Playa Norte, with seafood, swimming, and hotel drop-off included.

“Our tour guide Alejandra was excellent. She was very knowledgeable, very nice, and made the tour a lot of fun. Our driver Pedro was also very nice and the two of them both took some time to think over our dietary restrictions to offer us some great options when we asked for local food recommendations. The restaurant at Celestun that we were taken to is hit-or-miss…”

Set out at 7:30 a.m. for a private Rio Lagartos Biosphere boat trip and a visit to Mexico’s pink lakes. Your air-conditioned ride includes hotel pickup in Tulum and Playa del Carmen, while Cancun and Puerto Morelos pickups cost $40 per group. Plan for a long, nature-focused day.

“If you want something a little more relaxing and different, this is the one for you. Our guide made us immediately feel like long time friends. I didn't expect the pink lakes experience to be as informative and beautiful as they actually were. On our boat ride the guide made sure to maximize the experience while also educating us on conservation and had an answer to every question we had. We had a wonderful time.”
